Influence of Foreign Salts and Antiscalants on Calcium Carbonate Crystallization

چکیده

For more than a century, crystallization has remained chief research topic. One of the most undesirable phenomena is formation calcium carbonate scale in drinking and industrial water systems. In this work, influence chemical additives on CaCO3 formation—in either nucleation, crystal growth, or inhibition processes—is investigated by using CO2-degasification method. Chemical are foreign salts (MgCl2, Na2SO4 MgSO4) to calco-carbonic system antiscalants (sodium polyacrylate ‘RPI’ sodium-tripolyphosphate ‘STPP’). The results show that affects both kinetics microstructure. Sulfate magnesium ions, added separately at constant ionic strength, nucleation step growth formed crystallites. Added simultaneously, their effect was accentuated CaCO3. Furthermore, RPI STPP affect process greatly delaying precipitation time largely increasing supersaturation coefficient. It also shown with prefers heterogeneous homogeneous one. X-ray diffraction patterns promote new polymorph as aragonite, addition initial polymorphs calcite vaterite.

critical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language

since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...

Calcium carbonate crystallization in tailored constrained environments

Synthesis of inorganic particles using routes inspired by biomineralization is a goal of growing interest. Recently it was demonstrated that the size and geometry of crystallization sites are as important as the structure of charged templating surfaces to obtain particles with controlled features. Most biominerals are formed inside restricted, constrained or confined spaces where at least parts...

Calcium Carbonate Precipitation for CO2 Storage and Utilization: A Review of the Carbonate Crystallization and Polymorphism

The transformation of CO2 into a precipitated mineral carbonate through an ex situ mineral carbonation route is considered a promising option for carbon capture and storage (CCS) since (i) the captured CO2 can be stored permanently and (ii) industrial wastes (i.e., coal fly ash, steel and stainless-steel slags, and cement and lime kiln dusts) can be recycled and converted into value-added carbo...

Role of CaCO3° Neutral Pair in Calcium Carbonate Crystallization

The molecular structure of the units that get incorporated into the nuclei of the crystalline phase and sustain their growth is a fundamental issue in the pathway from a supersaturated solution to the formation of crystals. Using a fluorescent dye we have recorded the variation of the pH value in time along a gel where CaCl2 and NaHCO3 counter-diffuse to crystallize CaCO3. The same pH-space-tim...
